About Carmen Lee

For Carmen, the best thing about working as a photographer is that she makes people smile.

After a career in international banking, Carmen decided to spend some time on her twin passions: travel and photography. Living abroad in four very different countries had given her a taste for the unknown, and fifty more nations later she has experienced a wealth of cultures and sights. Her most astounding trips include Antarctica and Bhutan, and next on her list are Rajasthan and Cambodia.

Now a full-time professional photographer, Carmen’s creative energy, eye for detail and flair for portrait photography draws her to capture things, patterns and people that surprise, delight and make you think. She enjoys the adrenalin rush of fast-paced corporate events as much as the honour of being involved in special life moments such as weddings. And she also believes in giving back to the community, by working with various Not-For-Profits close to her heart.

Carmen has studied at the International Centre for Photography in New York and the Australian Centre of Photography in Sydney. She is inspired by many well-known photographers, including Dorothea Lange, Marco Bok, Paul Strand, Karin Catt, Olive Cotton, Murray Fredericks, Sebastiao Salgado, Bill Henson and Tamara Dean.

Although she is happiest behind a lens, when she’s not shooting you’re likely to find Carmen laughing and playing with her young sons and husband Jamie in one of the many parks around Sydney.
